THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED BECAUSE THE GROUND IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY FROZEN!
Friday, January 8, from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm – Windham Regional Woodlands Association presents a tour led by Tim Morton, State Forester, and Long View Forest Contracting, of an active timber harvest at Molly Stark State Park in Wilmington. The harvest uses a combination of harvest machine felling and hand cutting designed to improve snowshoe hare habitat while being sensitive to trails and park infrastructure. Dress for winter conditions; bring snowshoes.
Parking at Molly Stark State Park is extremely limited in winter. Therefore we will meet in the big parking lot on the north side of Route 9 that is just west of the Hogback Mountain Gift Shop and the old Skyline Restaurant. From the meeting place, we will car pool the mile-and-a-half to the tour site.
RSVP to so he can reschedule in case of bad weather or if the job hasn’t started yet.
